Hana Habeebu Rahiman is a Visiting Student Researcher in the Integrated Reef Fisheries Lab at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). She holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK), where she graduated as Undergraduate Valedictorian of the Class of 2026.
Her current research focuses on global dietary patterns, aquatic food consumption, and their relationships with population health and nutrition outcomes. She works with large-scale dietary and population datasets, applying data science, statistical analysis, machine learning, and visualization methods to investigate how diets vary across populations and how these patterns relate to health.
Her broader research experience includes artificial intelligence for medical imaging, particularly content-based medical image retrieval using deep-learning representations, dimensionality reduction, feature selection, and leakage-aware evaluation across MRI and histopathology images. Her recent work on reliable and efficient compact representations for medical image retrieval has been accepted at CAISAIS 2026.
Her long-term goal is to develop as a data scientist working at the intersection of data and human health, with particular interests in population health, women’s health, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and early pubertal development in girls.
